Filed under CARES, Local, Members, News

The local amateur radio community is again being asked to provide communicators for this event. You are receiving this message because you volunteered last year or you are listed as a Clermont County RACES member . Please let me know if you have an interest in volunteering again this year. If so, let me know if you have a location preference.

Our function is to monitor parts of the bike course for emergencies, provide athlete status on the course if requested, and provide communications interoperability if needed. Volunteers should be able to operate from their vehicles parked in locations near and along the course although some additional leg work with handhelds may be needed at some locations to adequately monitor the course. Some locations may also have interaction with served agencies (Clermont County Communications Center, HFP Racing, Clermont County Sheriff, Ohio Department of Natural Resources – Park Rangers).

VHF (2M) communications capability is a requirement and UHF (70cm) is a plus. Our involvement will run from 7:45 am to approximately Noon. Volunteers need to arrive in the general area between 7:15 am and 7:30 am.

All volunteers are invited (but not required) to stay for the post-race food & drink at the beach area.

Anyone interested in volunteering or wanting additional information can contact me via E-Mail kb8qxq@arrl.net.
