President’s Message to the Membership, December 2017

Dave Vest, K8DV
Welcome to fall and the onset of winter as the temperatures are starting to fall and DX is starting to appear on our wireless apparatuses. Hope and trust that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had time to spend with family and friends giving thanks to all that we truly have to be thankful for.

As we approach the end of cooler nights and warmer days, I hope that all of you have your antenna projects completed and ready for the winter season as we will soon be in the cold nights, cold days of winter.

November meeting was one of the best that we have seen in some time with lots of lively discussion about FT8, magnetic loops and other topics. If you were not there you missed a good meeting.

The December meeting will be a good one as well as we will have the ARRL Great Lakes Director, Dale, WA8EFK and Vice Director Tom, W8WTD there to present the November QST cover plaque to Jack, W8TEE for his article in November QST on the antenna analyzer. Dale will also be presenting a program on the latest ARRL happenings and state of ham radio in general.

Hopefully you will be able to make it to the December meeting. For December’s Jack’s shack will be open for “Show and Tell” so if you have something you would like to share with the members, such as a new DX QSL card, latest project or anything you think they would be interested in bring it out to show and tell about it.

As the holiday season approaches us I want to wish all you Happy Holidays and look forward to serving as your president again in 2018.

Dave, K8DV
