MARC Field Day Update

Provided by Bill, WS6K

Setup on +Friday, June 22, at 2:00 PM will consist of shooting lines over 4 light poles for the 80-meter loop and shooting lines over 4 trees for the 2 G5RV antenna’s. Time permitting we will put up the 80-meter loop.

Since the location is not secure we do not want to leave anything that looks like copper onsite over night.

W8VCI, KC8RPV, KD8OUT, KD8LZK, WB8RRR, KD8OMS, KC8BTA, N8PET,WS6K, AE8U and N5EE have volunteered to work set up. We probably only need 5 -8 on +Friday starting at 2:00 PM.

Let me know if you plan on coming out on +Friday. Check in on MARC, we may be able to tell you we have +Friday covered. I’d like to avoid having a lot of people there with nothing to do. We only have one line gun so we are limited in what we can do.

+Saturday is a different story, we need all hands on deck. I’ll be there +around 9:00 AM, come out when you can. We will be:
—– Setting up tables for operating positions.
—– Putting up 2 G5RV’s and one 40m/80m NVIS antennas.
—— Running AC extension cords from the generator to the stations.
—– Running coax, one G5RV is 300 ft from the antenna coax patch panel.
To get it closer we either need to move the building or plant trees.
—– Running CAT -5 cable for the data network.
—– Setting up stations and PC’s
—– Powering up and testing everything. Murphy will appear some where.

That’s all before +2:00 PM.

We have an Educational Activity, Fox Hunting 101. Been there, done that, have the T-Shirt. I have 4 foxes and 3 or 4 beams and attenuator’s, but need HT’s. If you want to hunt and have a 2-meter HT e/w a BNC antenna connector bring it.

Call me on the MARC repeater or my cell if you have any questions.
